Trevor has been a professional guitar player and teacher since 1980 and is a registered teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and The Australian Guild of Music. He has studied at the Australian Guild of Music where he graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Music and an Associate Diploma in Classical Guitar. Trevor also has a Graduate Diploma in composition for Screen and Television from the Australian Film Television and Radio School ( AFTRS), and a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching from Melbourne University.

Teaching

Trevor has been teaching music and song writing part time for the Creative Industries faculty at the Box Hill Institute since 2007 and was until very recently the guitar teacher for Mowbray College in Melton and Caroline Springs. Previous to that he was the Head of Music at The JMC Academy Melbourne campus from 2003-2006.

Performance

If you have been following the live music scene for the past 30 years, you might recognise Trevor from previous popular top 40 cover bands “Late as Usual” (Blues & Rock), “The Houndogs” (50s & 60s Rock & Roll), “Denzel Does Dallas” (70s, 80s & 90s Rock and Top 40) or the duo “The Big Palookas”.  From 1994-2010 Trevor was the guitarist and musical director for “The Big O Show” (the Australian Roy Orbison Tribute)and “The Big O and Elvis Spectacular”. In 2010 and 2011 he was guitarist and musical director for The Australian Motown & Disco Show”. He now plays with the “Club Tequila” Duo and Trio.

Influences

Trevor enjoys listening to and is inspired by the Classical music of Matteo Carcassi, Mauro Guiliani, Fernando Sor, Heitor -Villa Lobos, Augustine Barrios and the arrangements of Andre Segovia.       The fantastic right hand work of Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuel and Merle Travis and the classic surf sounds of Hank Marvin and Dick Dale. He also studies the techniques of great Country pickers like Albert Lee, Vince Gill, Brent Mason, Eddie Perez, James Burton and Scotty Moore and popular rock players like Mark Knopfler Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Page and Joe Satriani.
